Totes , stackable . Or cardboard boxes are free . Might want to surf craigslist for one of those kids toy shelves with all the bins . I have a old TV stand on my workbench , it has 3 shelves and I just lined up some containers on the first 2 shelves and keep the taller ones on the top shelf .

In a shed I would maybe reccomend finding some scrap wood and making a permanent shelf so your not always bending over . A lot of guys use storage units . But if your still starting out or limited on space try shelves . I personally use empty plastic enfomil containers for all of my smaller items . Then dump in a larger container when it's full . Or plastic bags .
