    GM LS LQ Lsx waterpumps

    Any easy way to take the pully off?

    Uh... once the 4 bolts are off it can be smacked off with a rubber mallet. IF it doesn't come off it's just rusted, some pb blaster and a few hours will take care of that. If the pulley doesnt have bolts it doesn't come off at all (not even with a puller) and the pump comes off as an assembly. This is Gen III Ls motors

    IF it has bolts it's probably a gen IV motor and the new pump design is with an o ring instead of a gasket, it's round and the o ring swells, then hardens into a mass you cannot break loose, thanks to dex cool. Getting that style off is fun, it requires a special water pump puller OR some ingenuity to press the pump out of the housing. You will have to clean the housing with a brass wire wheel or IT WILL LEAK. I cannot stress that last part enough.
