seperating wires help

Call an electrician. No one on an Internet forum is going to know how your house is wired. And I wouldn't suggest hooking wires together if you aren't sure about what you are doing. You'll burn your house down.

It appears that you have little, if any, knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits. When you lack the knowledge, leave it to proffessionals. This applies to your question and also many items in the scrap industries.

For a question like this, you should find a forum full of electricians and or electrial engineers. As an FYI, 12 gauge copper wire is only rated for 20 amps.

I am not an electrician just a very skilled remodeler. Every time you mess with any wire go to the breaker box, fuse box and turn off all breakers or remove all fuses AND turn of main breaker. Get yourself a cheap tester. All you do is touch it to the wire if it has current going through it there will be a beep and you know to back off. I always test just after the box for NO BEEP. Then above box on thick black service entry cable for current. It is good to get a feel for where the current is and is not. Electricity is dangerous especially standing in the dark in a puddle of water grounded out in a damp basement. I love copper as much as the next guy. There is something about it that makes the cash register in my head go cha ching.

IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE CURRENT IN WIRE DO NOT MESS WITH IT.

I saw a 400 amp panel arc through the air and zap a guy in the steel mill once. Electricity has no conscious. It will attempt to flow to a ground with complete disregard to anything in its path.

Don't encourage him.
