Best way to connect with scrappers in my area

What would be the best way to connect with some of the less tech savy scrappers in my area that wouldn't be on forums or craigslist? Any ideas.

    Thanks in advance.

Hang out at the nearest scrap yard?

I am hoping to move away from dealing with scrapyards and work directly with scrappers.

Also i work a full time job and have a side business so dont have much time to hang out.

Leave a piece of metal in trash cans with your number on it.

A small newspaper ad has worked for me.

Edit: If you are new to scrapping be careful about buying. Free removal or charging to remove may be a better option at this time. In any case buy low sell high.

I am only interested in lead scrap. I make fishing weights. Not interested in any other kinds. What I would like to do is get a group of people around my area to work with.

Maybe leave a card or flyer in some fishing shops if your after lead. Networking with everyone you know will also help reach people .
Try some local auction houses if you have any in your area , never know what they may have . Face to face networking has been huge for me . Always make it a point to others what your after , what you pay and a contact number . Good luck

why not pay to advertise here.............A lot of lead could fit in medium flat rate..........Since you are re-purposing you can pay a little above scrap price and cover the shipping of the $10 box............Just a suggestion.........The best place I see for lead wheel weights is used tire shops.........Most probably have a buyer but you could possibly offer more

Well usual scrappers don't produce 1000's of pounds of lead, so good luck

If you need 1000's of pounds you will most likely have to buy directly from a yard............Most individuals don't horde 1000's of lbs of lead........There are a few bigger guys here and perhaps they will chime in...........
you may have to buy multiple lots but appears to be plenty on ebay

I can get it from a yard but have to pay about double what they buy it for. Would be a good deal for people that do come across it, for me to end up with it directly from them.

Figure out a price and become a buyer here. I only get about 7 to 10 pounds a year. But if you bought from everyone here it could add up quickly.

No Hobo he would rather continue to drop hints that he wants to buy from us without having to pay for the privilege like so many others have. Three threads and he has dropped hints in all three about buying.
