Was wondering where everyone find old appliances? I repair old washers and dryers and I'm searching for new sources. I've also heard used appliance stores get their stock from the old washers and dryers after new appliance customer installations by major stores like Sears, Lowes and Home Depot. Anyone have any information on this? I'm prepared to buy them if they're worth the profit. I already advertise on CL but I'm looking for a more steady supply.

I run an ad in the paper 1 costs 24.75 a month the other is 19.99 for 3 months it works for me and business cards hung up at all bulletin boards at gas stations and restaurants. Can you tell the difference between the free shopper and the 75 cent daily paper haha call all your local papers and check them out

Might target recyclers, pla more than scrap value. They may already have the sources, should be more than happy to get more than scrap value

Will your local scrapyard let you put up a want ad looking for appliances?? Somewhere the other scrappers (people coming in) might read it??

Tough to find any recyclers around that are willing to sell Ace. Got one though, better than none I guess.

No yards sell anything around here as for liability purposes.

With scrap steel prices so low you should do well if you get the word out! I am too far away to help unless you need a part and I have that item in my stack of steel...

Lowes is pretty strict on their scrap.. I used to work there, They had a return of an aluminum ladder sitting in back bay that had destroy on it, I asked them if I could have it to cut up and use for support on my boat. Was gonna use like one or two pieces then scrap the rest but still, they said I couldn't have it and set it out out at their appliance pile, next day it was gone...

Yea, I think it's better to deal with the 3rd party company that hauls the stuff away and bypass Lowes.

The company that lowes has picks up their scrap from all their locations across the country so um, its a pretty big corporation.

Alternatively, you could consider providing a scrapyard with a list of parts you need, and see if they'd like to take the time to tear them out for you. With the market the way it is, I'm sure everyone's looking to make a buck somewhere. It'd save you a lot lifting, and you won't have to deal with the steel afterwards, just the parts, which is what you're after, right?Originally Posted by Mechanic688
