    Question for the E-waste guys

When you are doing disposal of old computers are you furnishing certificates of proper disposal and assuming all liability(environmental etc) for the material you take?

Only when asked and many don't ask.

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

I'm the same as Logan. Basically, the only customers that get any of that are the schools and municipalities. Everyone signs a liability waiver, but they don't get one unless they ask. I think I've handed out two duplicates over the years.

I am talking about towers, monitors, old phones, basically anything with a circuit board. For things like that do you charge or dock what you would pay?

i haven't gotten involved in deals like this. I would expect its specified in the requirements what needs to be done with it. Most have to do with destruction of hard drives and perhaps COA's.

After following all the requirements recycle, resell what ever works better for you. We have many well reviewed buyers here on the forum. Look around the forum, read more, hold onto what you have for now until you are certain what's best for you. What I do with my material will be different than what you will find is best for you. Mike

I am not checking it out for me but more for the company i work for. Currently we use sims recycling and are paying for disposal. Wondering if other avenues are out that could save us some money but still get everything we need.

see if you can get said items from your company for free, saving them money, break the stuff down and sell the boards to buyers on here and sell the metal to the scrap yard.

I will give out a Certificate of Destruction for computer Hard Drives, or any Hard Drives for that matter if the client/customer wants me to. I offer. Most residential people don't care oddly enough. Usually only businesses which is understandable.

I don't give out CODs for cell phones tho. Take your sim card an crap out before you give it to me. You don't then it's pulled out an scrapped with everything else.

Nor do I give them on anything else. I would if it was a case of being hired to destroy items.

That's how I do things, as always YMMV.

Perhaps one of our members could accomplish your company's requirements and NOT charge for the service. Mike
