    Magnets

I have about 30 pounds or more of speakers from appliances and speakers, and I just found out that no yard around me will take them. Anyone have any idea what I should do with these things to make money from them. I have seen tons of videos on how to remove them and collect them, and yeah no i find out that the scrap yards around me don't even take them. Any advice on what to do. Any buyers?

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

I'd see if any of them can be sold to car enthusiasts. If not, shred it is.

I have seen a few videos talking about selling speaker magnets but I don't know of any yards that buy just speaker magnets. They may have at one time but I don't think that's the case now. Any speakers I scrap are tossed in with my shred. There's a lot of info out there about scrapping certain items but before you do make sure you find a buyer first.

Make craft projects with the speaker magnets... For example get some clip boards from Office Max and glue a magnet ring on the back of the board; and use it on a refrigerator... guarantee to stick better then any frig-magnet on the market! Make a bunch and give them as presents for Christmas.

Are you trying to sell them as a separate category? I just put them with the rest of the steel/shred.

I was trying to sell them as magnets/magnesium(ex: steel, aluminum, copper, magnets). So yeah there own category, otherwise why take them off speakers and put them in a separate container. So i guess I'm just going to CL them or ebay them and hope some craft person or someone buys them. And if they don't sell that way, then I'll just put them in my shred pile.

The magnets that some yards will take are called "natural magnets". It was explained to me that natural magnets can be melted and reformed and still have the magnetic property. If the speakers are high end chances are they are natural magnets and can be scrapped. Natural magnets break apart pretty easily, it's a lot of fun picking the tiny pieces off my hammer & screwdriver! It's been quite a while since I checked the price but the last time I think it was .38 lb. Good luck!
