Help! I can't part with these neat thing-a-ma-jiggies!

I guess it's the curious kid in me...I can't get rid of these neat things I've come across while scrapping:

#1 is a weird looking brass statue of a ram...it's about 3 inches tall. I found this while rummaging through a *huge* pile of stuff that was thrown out of a house...I think the home owners got evicted.


#2 is a cool lens from a Samsung projector tv. When you look through it, everything looks like a kaleidoscope.


#3 is a spinning color wheel thingy from the same samsung tv I got the lens from (above).


So my question is, is this type of behavior normal?
Do you all come across stuff that's neat, and have a hard time getting rid of it?
If I keep up at this rate, my garage & back yard is gonna be an *official* junk yard! lolol

Yeah, don't worry about your eye "catching" things. That brass dohickey might fascinate for a while, and maybe eventually you will find something else that can take its place. Or the wife decides that she is tired of dusting it!!

Either way, it will move on...you might find eBay will pay you more than scrap brass price for it...

I'm the same way...my "keep" stuff tends to be more farmer-type...short ends of any type of steel or aluminum stock, industrial electrical stuff that can be used in my shop, hydraulics, etc. But my worst addic....I mean weakness for scrap is old bulldozers. Show me something 1940's or older and my tongue is dragging on the ground.

The only saving grace is that the older ones are usually pretty small.

In a moment of weakness I brought home a 1952 D8 Caterpillar....all 25 TONS of it. It went like this with the wife..."but honey, it still RUNS!" That excuse didn't work.

Do you have pictures of your bulldozer collection?
I found one last week, but I gave it to my son...sorry. It looked like a mid 90's model "Tonka", so I doubt you would'a wanted it. lol

My wife won't mind much, she hardly ever goes in there.

Yes, but you missed the most important and fun part of the projection TV. The third screen back , the one with the lines in it is what you want to keep. but keep it out of the sun. If you have it I will pay $5 + shipping for it.

For some reason, I hung on to them. I've watched a bunch of videos of people using them as solar cookers. Neat!

Trade or sell the ram statue at a Chinese restaurant as this year is "the year of the Ram". I think you will get more than brass value for that item...
