Trying to shed some light on CB - Ham Coax and Antennas

I'll attempt to shed some light on CB radio, Ham coaxes and antennas, as this was part of my business for over 15 years. There is cheap coax out there that is aluminum with a rubber coating that is the cheap crap the cable companies use. Anything for transmitting on the CB-Ham bands is a better quality copper coax with a rubber jacket. From little to big is RG58au, RG59u, RG8x, RG8u, RG213, and then there is some specialty coaxes with double shielding. These numbers are found down the side of the coax, so people know what their buying. The smaller coaxes are around 1/4" and the bigger coaxes are 1/2" and 5/8" in diameter. Right under the rubber jacket is a copper braid with a white teflon separation and then the center conductor made of solid copper or bigger stranded wire. Also remember that the coax connectors are chrome plated brass shell with an insert and a brass center pin. Some of them are silver plated brass. The right picture shows the smaller coaxes (RG58-59-8x) while the left side shows the larger(RG8u-RG213) style. CB and Ham antennas are usually a type of aircraft aluminum with stainless nuts and bolts, and of course a brass connector to fasten the coax to. I hope this helped clear up any confusion anyone might have had, and NOT confused them further. LOL :confused::confused:
