Do iPhones with shattered screens sell on eBay?
Do iPhones with shattered screens sell on eBay?
The newest one do and I'm sure the older ones as well, just might take a little longer. My problem with the shattered screens is determining if they are locked!
Yea, the one I have is the 5c
BY me at stores they have machines that will redeem them, not that I would go that way!
NEVER EVER EVER use the machines to redeem....you are getting taken to the CLEANER. I buy and sell phones as part of my business (I have over 8 years exp in the cellular industry).
You need to know if it is just the glass or if it is the LCD as well...this will affect pricing. You also need to know what carrier if possible...call them and give them the serial number or IMEI and check to see if it is on the blocked/stolen list....if it is then you need to disclose. Actually you really need to plug it into itunes if possible and make sure it is not icloud locked (that will make it useless as well except for parts). If you can unlock it, that will get you the most money. Either way, it still can be sold as parts for far more than scrap value.
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell
I know how to check a phone for stolen or lost. Just curious about how you "plug" into itunes, with a broken and unreadable screen on a iphone? can you detail your method please.
I can't tell you how to connect it to iTunes, but they will still sell for more than scrap value.
By the way, changing an iPhone screen is a complete pain in the butt! I've done two, and can tell you that they are not fun. You'll want to check to see if the corners were pushed in- that lowers the value (And makes it really hard to repair)

The phone was my sisters, the screen is shattered, it turns on but the screen shows only color like on a tv, I can also post a pic of it tomorrow.

sure...just because you have a broken screen doesn't mean the phone doesn't work...I get broken screen phones all the time. when you use the USB adapter (the one you charge with...without the little box on the end that plug into the wall)...you plug it into the your computer after opening itunes (same as if you were going to back up said phone). Power the phone on and you will hear it be recognized by itunes (you might need to plug it in for awhile to charge it if it is dead of course. It should give you things like IMEI (certain models do not have it on the back of the phone casing). Once you have the imei, you can call the cell carrier and get them to check it against their lost/stolen/blocked list. There is at least one website online that can tell you the carrier by the serial. Once it it recognized by itunes you can reset the phone (ERASE IT), which you should do ALWAYS. If it is icloud locked and you do not have the icloud password OR you cannot get the person you bought it from to take the phone off their icloud account, it is a brick...useable only for parts. No, APPLE will NOT reset this....it is a security measure.
Once you reset the phone it is ready to be sold. Now, if you can unlock the phone, once you get that done through the carrier is was through originally, then you reset again through itunes and it will show as unlocked ....unlocking is different for each carrier and they must do it per a fairly new law if certain terms are met (this is for US phones BTW in case you are an international member).
I will try to remember to video me doing one the next time I do one and put it on youtube for everyone.
When buying phones, you need to be CAREFUL. Always check the phone by manually resetting it IN FRONT of the person BEFORE buying it...see if it asked for an icloud password...if it does and hey don't know the password DO NOT BUY IT. If they haven't reset it, I always turn it off before I reset it in case they can't remember the password. I also call the carrier to check the lists I mentioned above...ALL of this BEFORE handing over money. I also make them sign a receipt in case they do something stupid like call it in as stolen AFTER they get your money. you can also ask to see ID when they sign to be extra sure...pawn shops do it, so fair is fair....plus it keeps you out of jail.....iphones are many times greater than $500 and therefore a felony if you are in possession of stolen property.
Good money in them, you just have to know what you are doing.
It's more then likely the screen part that has the touch sensor in it. Their not that hard to replace if you find instructions and a replacement screen. There's a place near me in the mall that replaces screens all the time(they scatter the broken ones out to show how bad some have gotten). Not sure what their prices are though... and as Burt said, they will sell on Ebay but it might take a bit since the screen's broken if that's what you're looking to do with it but before you do, I'd find a way to wipe it first so no personal information is left on it(can't tell you how many times I've bought something that's had someone elses stuff on it).
actually that is incorrect...if the screen is BLUE, then there is a connection issue from the LCD to the motherboard most likely, but could still be a bad lcd. You still will have to take it off to try to repair. There are 3 items that are part of a cell phone screen...the glass, the digitizer (the part that registers your touch) and the LCD itself.
Replacing the 5C is actually not bad at all....here is a video for you
I believe the screen comes as a one piece replacement...meaning the glass, digitizer and lcd but do not quote me on that. This one is not that hard to do all in all...unlike the ones where you have to free the GLUED glass from the screen.
Find out what carrier from your sister...check ebay for cracked version of that phone vs just used ones to decide if you should replace or not. Either replace yourself or get it done if reasonable if it is worth more....get the phone unlocked if you can with the carrier and have her take it off icloud lock....then sell for $$$...hopefully it is a GSM carrier like ATT and if unlokced should be worth a reasonable amount of $$$.
Good luck!
Thank you for your explanation on itunes "docking", not sure if that is correct term. That did help with the one iphone that I tried it with, it's not stolen/lost/banned. Will try next step later, I've used itunes on my pc for several years, but never on a phone before, that part is all new to me!
yes everyone that gets ANY iphone or other smartphone really should factory reset the phone if at all possible before selling...just to protect someones personal info (might keep you from getting sued too). you will not be able to do it on Samsungs if the screen doesn't work (I know I have one), but iphones you can using itunes....ie the LCD doesn't even have to come on at all.
Good luck with them!
here is the phone
Here is the phone when it is on
not the worst I have seen...again check "cracked iphone 5C" vs iphone 5C (add the carrier to help)....see if it is worth it to fix it.
Alright, I sold it for $55 on eBay!
