    Holy screws Batman!

I found an ad on Craigs List from a company that was consolidtaing offices and needed some old computer equipment picked up. It ended up being 2 loads of various office equipment, older stuff. Well worth the trip, plus free. Anyway, part of the load was about 20 older and large key boards i had never seen before. Probably 15 years old, made by Computer Lab Intenational. They wieghed decent amount each, so I finally opened one up. It had a metal sheet inside that the keyboard was attached to. 48 frickin' litttle screws held that baby together. Screws too small for my drill, so i had to do manually. I decided to quit after one I think maybe I'll research the company before I do anymore, maybe some re-sale value.

that's about right. Those are the keyboards that use to get cops called to office buildings when bosses let their employees go. They would use em as weapons. Good find none the less.

Agreed. I've found that people really like the IBM and Gateway 2000 ones (Gateway 2000 was the name of the computer company that would be changed to just Gateway)

Gateway, how the "mighty" have fallen. They were a "South Dakota" based company in N. Sioux City, maybe corporate was in Dakota Dunes. Even had a big plant in Sioux Falls in their heyday. At one time, they had a pretty nice share of U.S. pcs. Just couldn't keep the lead guy's nose out of the cocaine. Last I knew they were making puters in Ireland. I don't even thing they're in busy anymore.

Gateway was bought by Acer years ago (I think 2007 IIRC), but they still make PCs. Acer shed eMachines a couple of years ago. You would really have to be looking to find a new Gateway, though.

I have about 8 of their monitors in service still. They're all circa 2004, but they were built well. I may be one of the only computer repair guys that likes Gateways, but I believe that the older ones were really built well....
