Can anyone recommend a good pair of wire cutter?

My $2 wire cutters from staples are not cutting it any more. I need a new pair, can anyone recommend one?

Go buy the kobalt ones from lowes. They are great and have a lifetime warranty.

Shop Kobalt 9-1/2-in Cable Cutting Pliers at Lowes.com

I've been using the Vise Grip brand cutters for awhile and they've held up well. The Vise Grip brand isn't quite what it was 20 years ago but it's still a reasonably good tool at a moderate price.

Most would balk about the upfront cost of Snap-On tools, but I'm using a pair of the heavy duty diagonal cutters they make . I've had them for years and have yet to have them replace them.

I have several pairs of these that I've used for years. The compound feature (self-opening) is great if you're cutting a lot of wires.

That right there is a great set of pliers. I have the Kobalt brand version (I looked and they don't seem to have them anymore) and I was glad to see that I can get another compound cutter.

I use Klein wire cutters or dikes. They are high leverage. There are different styles. It maybe hokum but some of the techs at our shop say the model sold at home depot is inferior to that sold by Johnstone supply (10-15$ more) but I haven't noticed a difference. J can only say that when I started with nothing but hand-me-down downs I had a pair of cutters that we cheap and just trash. Then I sprang for some Klein dikes. There is a world of difference and I think mine cost upwards of $30. Most of the small hand plier tools and screw drivers are klein. There are ups and downs.

Depending on the gauge of the wire will depend on wither i use my tin ships or electricians cutters. Both are effective enough. I've only came across a braid of wire once that required a cut-off wheel.

For battery cables and wire harness I use a Knipex cutter. Pricey at $60-70 but the slim blades will allow one to naw through any size harness in tight quarters. Klein makes good stuff too.
