If I'm working the scale when you bring those plastic ones in, I'm going to dock you at least 20# each for the plastic. not sure how other yards work and some may not even accept them.

Weitsman takes em as they are and would give tin price for em(so $0.09/lb) so you'd see an average price of $81 for all of em. May not seem like a lot to you, but a dollar in the pocket is better then in the tank.

Are you sure you are getting 9 cents per pound for tin? The price here is $71 per gross ton, or about 3 cents per pound. That would cut the payout to around $27.00 if they average 100 pounds each.

It all depends on what you dink factor is. I have a fairly low threshold for messing around with stuff so I'll usually pick one up if its not out of a way. Various parts are probably much more valuable than scrap value. I picked one up this summer that had been sitting on the side of a guy's driveway for a day and half (I didn't see that someone had cut the motor out of it). It was an older Frigidaire that I couldn't even figure out the model number so sort of bummed when I scrapped it out. But, both sprayer arms had parts #s on them so popped them off and sold combined in 2 different ebay sales for pushing $20. I know Matador says he won't dink with ebay sales for less than $20 but I will. After all the metal was off of it, I cut the plastic tub up into 4 pieces with a z-saw for easier trashing (we're not too considered with throwing away plastic in South Dakota, even on the edge of the largest city we have plenty of room for more landfills--the city could even rent out the grass covered "hills" in the end of pasture if they wanted to re-use the land). Some dishwashers have a non-metallic stainless tub. Might not be able to get all of the insulated foam type junk off of it but can probably sell for SS breakage which was 5x shred last time I sold. Try 'em, you might like them if you have the time!!

Or like alloy2 said, maybe you can get them to work again and be way more valuable than scrap or maybe even parts!

When you have the monopoly on a market in an area you can set whatever price you want. When the exporters give you deep discounts because you have that monopoly, you're able to expand. There's no CEO or board of directors or shareholders to answer to.
