Let's just drop it. Either he's getting 0.09/lb or he's not. As for whether or not he has any special relationship with the yard, what's that got to do with anyone else? As for me, I hope he does have a special relationship and gets better service. Why would I hold that against him if he does?

My comment earlier was based on the fact that the thread is about dishwashers. At most yards it would go in as tin/shred/loose light iron/white goods/or whatever, but not as mixed metal.

He has always got better prices than most of us... I don't think he is doing Big Ben! lol As stated before it depends on your yard! Location will matter...

I was a "dish washer" at a Chinese restaurant when younger. No kidding. I took the job on as a interesting summer adventure as I liked the food and company.

Spent some of my wages at S.S. Kresge on cherry cokes and a few albums with little holes burned through them. One was called David Frye I am the president. Another was James Blonde Secret Agent 006.95, marked down from 007.

the blue light specials back then was someone flicking their BIC while their buddy pulled their finger.

Most of the dishwashers I have pulled apart are Stainless Steel lined. Mostly Fisher & Paykel, a NZ brand.
Easyish work, nice easy to remove pump motor, 3 hoses with thick wire clamps and 2 screws holding it in place, Plastic housing held in by a 'K' (Bayonet) mount.
Two solienoids= Copper wire 50gms.
Plastic coated wire, small plastic control panel and some plastic plumbing inside.
Some Lint insulation and a some thin panels of Tar pitch stuck to the outside of the liner, bash inside and it falls off.
The electronic control box, save then as they do have connection problems inside so if its got a smudge of smoke, thats why it stopped going.
The spinner arms are stainless, they wear on the mounting face, sometimes right thru, so if it has a loose spinner arm, thats why that one stopped working....
Door liners Stainless, so that goes with the inside liner of Stainless and the filter screen and spin arms and that equals 10+ Kg of 'Stainless'.

The door front and outside casing is enamel white sheet steel. I cut a door up last week and used 1/2 of it to replace a rusted out sill on my car. Nice :-)

I don't buy dishwashers, too much plastic. You could cut the wiring (#2 ICW) and remove the motor (most have Al windings so Irony Al), and of course the racks. Some have SS304 panels, and cleaned correctly will get you $0.20 Lb.

Trying to attach the latest price sheet from the Albany yard. Would assume Solvay was fairly similar. No mixed metal here and light iron (which is what plastic tub dishwasher would go as if accepted) is at 71 / GT.

The $202 that I mentioned was the high end of what mills were paying last month for various steel grades. No way a yard could pay 9 cents (201.6 GT) for a dishwasher that has to go thru the shredder and is at best 75% metal.

At the request of others that have said to drop this, I will not comment on these ridiculous claims of 9 cents a pound any more.

In regards to "Mixed Metals", I don't know if you are sycic (spelling) or what. There is an article on "American Metal Market" about Adam starting to process "Mixed Metals". I have a FB message into them, trying to get a copy of the article. Unfortunately my trail subscription to American Metal Market is over and I can't get it.
