They also sell a tool called crunch it for 5 bucks, basically a can opener you can stomp on. using this you must make sure the canister is empty, where as a rifle will give you the safe distance needed to puncture still pressurized canisters.

Certainly like the idea of a .22 pellet gun. Fun and (with proper precautions) safe!
Pretty sure UK makes it harder to obtain and use a .22 than they do in America so may not be a quick fix.
Crunchit looks cool. The issue I have with these camping stoves is the state i've found them in it's pretty much impossible to release any left over gas due to damage / rust/ whatever. Aerosol cans (deoderant, room sprays etc) it's not such an issue, so i can release gas and pierce / crunch etc.
Off to do some research on the .22 for sure. I know them use them in the cadets (under 18 army) so they are certainly not unheard of.
