Unhappy Moving A Trailer Without A Truck ...

The title sounds a little weird, but I have ran into this issue.

I recently bought 2 junk portable air compressors that kind of look like THIS ... my problem is they are both in the woods were I can not get my truck, and my winch cable is WAY too short.
It's impossible for me to try to lug these heavy machines out by hand ... any ideas on how to get these things out ?

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

How far do you have to move them? I've seen dollies that go on boat trailers that you can move by hand, but if they're sunk into the woods, that could be a problem.

If you can get everything to be rolling weight, it may be doable. I've pushed a gravity wagon

like that many, many times. Unloaded, they weigh about 1500 pounds. It's a job for one person, but it can be done.

Low tech= come along and a strap. Put strap around near by tree in the direction you want to go and hook up the come along. Slow but sure. 73 Mike

Can you get your truck winch within clear line of sight? Let your cable out far as it goes and bridge the gap with lengths of chain or strap. Pull it in, and hook up closer to the trailer, repeat until recovered?

I've used this system for everything from pulling tree stumps to pulling copper veins out of 4 inch rigid pipe.

12-1/2 inches of that old copper "rope" weighs 45.55 ounces. over 2-3/4 pounds per foot unpeeled

12 volt portable trailer hitch winch

12 volt deep cycle marine battery

husky 750 watt inverter. for sawzall and deep cut bandsaw copper mining

nylon slings for attaching winch to tree trucks or I-beams and also to choke hold the item to be winched

a hand truck and milk crate to transport everything to the jobsite.

if you have a buddy with a quad that would be my 1st choice but if you have to go it alone the above will help as long as you have some good tires to roll with

You have received some great ideas and I will only add a couple of ideas. First for the anchor to the tongue should be steel. Nylon strap has a tendency to tear when bond around metal. Second attach your nylon strap to the chain on the tongue. Nylon will have more stretch and strength than steel chain. Everyone has talked about a straight pull, but the secret is to allow gravity to help. Cut a log 6 ft. tall log and notch the top for the nylon web or wire rope to sit in. Put the log about half way between the compressor and tow vehicle. Put tire between log and tow vehicle running the cable through it to prevent back lash. Have partner lift log up right as you pull. You will probably have to make adjustments in these figures based on length of pull and height of log. Should pull right out of a mud pit. Let us know your final solution.
Give back more to this world than we take.

You didnt say location, but ya slip me a few bucks and I can drive my truck in and drag them out for you. As long as only small trees I can run over, I got chains for the rubber. Or I could drag my 28ft car trailer over and use the winch with the 100ft cable and pull them both out at once and probaly trailer both at once. Always looking to help a fellow out and Im not greedy, will work for lunch lol.
