truck tool box scrap

Hi guys,



I have a diamond plated aluminum truck side toolbox I am looking to scrap. It was in the dumpster because the drill holes have rotted out quite a bit on the sides/bottom. Listed it on craigslist twice with no interest and I don't have the room for it anymore. My question is this for anyone who's scrapped these or any diamond plated aluminum before, assuming I get the steel handles off, would it go as sheet aluminum or cast? Also I did do a search yielding nothing related to my question.

Call your local yards. They can tell you exactly what you will get for it and how they grade it.

I can tell you what the yards in Tennessee pay for it but you're in NY so......

If your ganna scrap it. wack it a couple times with a hammer. if it cracks its cast and if it dents its sheet alum. I would say cast anywerds

How much of the diamond plate is still usable?
It sells new for about $4.25 per square foot

Never thought of that, wish I had because I could have sawed up the sides, probably 8 square feet. It went as sheet aluminum, 0.44/lb.
