I was at a friends house and as I stood up from the couch, something sparkled between the cushions.
So I took a second look and picked out a clear jewel.... It was sitting under the zips cover.
So I mention to hosts about it and from the look on their faces I knew there was 'something' known about it.
We talk, they ask if I can "get it tested to see what it actually is".
I do and its a fake jewel.
I return it to them a short while later, they live in the country.
It turns out its from his mother's wedding ring, she lost it & thought it was lost there, they looked everywhere, for ages, didn't find it. She figured then that she must have lost it elsewhere.
But now its turned out to be a fake..... The mother got insurance paid out for what they thought was a real diamond, not as much as she would have liked, but she got paid out. For a fake.
I'm still wondering who was the dishonest person there. Them? (Backfired a bit) . The jewelry maker/seller/cleaner/repairer/valuer?
The husband..…? The jeweler I took it too..
