I don't have much experience with hacksaw blades, but I do have a lot of experience with reciprocating saw blades which I guess are similar. In my opinion, go for a blade that's somewhere in the middle of the price range. I've found that the cheapest blades that you can buy for anything are generally trash and are a waste of money due to sub par materials and quality control. Expensive blades are stronger and a lot last longer than cheap harbor freight blades. I found that I was spending more money buying cheap disposable blades than if I just paid more money up front and bought long lasting, quality blades.

Cheep ones or good ones when you have used them up add to the prepared steel pile!
On the assumption this is for compressors, I would get a 4 1/2" grinder for around $15-20 at Harbor Freight. Even cheaper with coupon. And grab a 10 pack of cutoff wheels. NOT grinding wheels.
That's how I started out, before graduating to the plasma.
Hacksaw blades are specially designed in a manner that it cuts on the forward stroke only. This is why it should be designed with the teeth facing away the handle. Blades are generally made from various of materials but it is recommended to use carbon steel, stainless steel, tool steel and alloy steel. There are also some more kind of materials and alloys being used in forming blades which are cobalt and titanium alloys. Stainless steel are kind of material which can easily be accessible in the market and it should not be quite costly.

years ago the big orange roof place carried Lenox blades HAND SAWS & BLADES | LENOX Tools
now in order to find them I have to go to the trades supply houses or order online
avoid "HDX" branded crap at the big orange roof place, they pushed the good stuff off the shelves to make room for this crud.
the "diablo" blades are just ok and better if you can catch them in bulk special packaging during the seasonal sales push
