    landlord gave me this pipe

    this is a internet photo of what it looks like kinda the one i have is dirty and i cant tell what coler it is if its copper or brass it looks copperish in coler maybe redish its big looks to be from a old house. i think its bigger than the one in this photo.

    Brass DWV fitting ...
    Unfortunately without a picture of the fitting it's self, no one can ID it ...

    its got a diamator of 4 inches and its 9 inches long i supose it could be red brass.

    Red Brass normally from plumbing but many yards around here lump it in with the yellow brass, Red pays a little better than yellow so if you have a lot its better to keep them separated!

    the "retail" red brass market is going to completely die within a couple of years. the only real RED brass fittings are going to be OLD, Marine, or industrial. which the average scrapper should have limited access to so yards will slow the purchasing of RED brass since they will not have enough volume to ship it separately, and definitely will not be able to make a more valuable foundry package.

    take a look at the OP's link every other fitting on that page is Yellow not red. two things going on California forcing lead free brass on us, and manufacturers cost savings. red brass had to be thicker then yellow because of casting limitations. yellow brass fittings will not last as long as red, so the manufacturer spreads their initial profit margin, and gets to sell replacements sooner... QED
