the HV capacitors from microwaves can sometimes be sold on Ebay for $7 + each.
There is also a chance of finding silver-mica capacitors.

Enlighten us on silver mica capacitors. I believe I have old test equipment in the shop with silvered mica capacitors (or resistors). I'll have to check later in the week.
They are used for high voltage current. Silver-mica caps are a fairly unique shape, but it is always a good idea to check the part numbers to make sure.
There are 2 main types: "saddle back" and "tin cans" ( more shapes do exist )
