posted craigslist ad today is this good?

i was wandering should i change anything on it? i mean i can only do so much you know.

free pick up of scrap metal will pick it up same day

Hi I am looking for free scrap that people want taken away or you just want to get rid of. You must be either in the town of north liberty or in the country on the church of christ side since its close to me lol. I use a dolly cart to transport my scrap don't use a car don't drive eats into profits. The kind of scrap I'm looking for is: car batteries, computer battery backups also known as a ups for computers when the power goes out, electric motors, car radiators, brass and copper plumbing pipes, window and central air conditioners, dehumidifiers, wires of any kind, house wires, cable wires, underground wires, faucets, ceiling fans, battery lead cables from cars, trucks and tractors the cables that go to your battery, cable or satalite wires, faucets, microwaves, small electronics, spools of wire or cable. I think I got most on here what I want but if you have anything else just txt or call if u don't have a cell phone. I prefer u txt unless ur not able to do so if it goes to voice mail leave a message and I will get to u when I can thank u. A side note I do not take old tube tv's to hard to get rid of and also refrigerators, washers, dryers, freezers and stoves are also to big for me to handle on a dolly. it helps the environment

    is this to much?

    In a word...YES

I really think you're trying to describe too much of what you'll accept...and what you won't. A person reading this is either gonna get bored or fall asleep, or both. I think if you trim it down a bit, and then when they call, you could go into more detail.

Just my opinion...but then, what the hell do I know...

    Well you did ask...

If this is an ad like you say it is..may want to drop the text style lingo. Your a professional, or at lest want people to think you know what your doing, so...get rid of the LOL, the "u"'s, etc. I know it's all the rage to write/type 'twitter style" but it turns folks like me off. If you can't take the time to type You, then how do I know you have the time to handle anything I call you for? Plus to me at lest it comes off quite unprofessional. That's me but I'm old school at times. YMMV.

An I agree with Diamond above. Save the novel for when your rich an famous, not when your writing an ad. "We take MOST eletronics..blah blah blah" or however you like to word it will go better then "We do not take the following 9,845 items." or "We accept the following 50 bajillion items" Again that's my opinion, an experience. An again...YMMV.

With a few fixes and you's here an there you'd have a fine enough ad. Don't get discouraged...advertising is an area a lot of folks are clueless on, so points for at lest asking. Ha ha!

    Good luck to ya.

I agree with what's been said so far. Straightforward, simple, clean, leave the finer details for the phone call, but do have some main important points, like, for example, "if you have stairs i will charge you a $200 fee" they need to know that before they call you (I don't actually do that but i've been tempted to). I usually say something along the lines of "anything metal" and "thank you" at the end. Not too robotic not too stern/salesman-like. Say your abilites and limitations good and bad, like you already did somewhat.

The same day pickup and free pick up lines are like butter on toast, and what's wrong with butter on toast? Exactly.

Don't overanalyze. You will wind up with analysis paralysis. It is just a stupid CL ad. Try that one and see how it does. Wait a week and while it is running, compose another ad with what you consider to be improvements. Target specific markets and see how they do.

Have fun with it. I once wrote an ad for a dog crate and suggested they were large enough they could be used for children. I got some flack from some girl telling me I should be ashamed of myself and that there were children who were mistreated in the world. I told her my kids turned out just fine. I don't know how old you are, but next week (heII, by dinner time) nobody except those interested in doing business with you will ever remember our ad.

Agree with Sirscrapalot. Spellcheck. Wandering and wondering have 2 different meanings. Grammar. You will probably have a 10 second interview by readers. Keep it simple and succinct. My .02. Good luck to you.

Sometimes I wonder while I wander over yonder...

To echo everyone else, I would definitely make the ad shorter for one, and cut out the text speak as well.

Listing what you want or do, not what you don't want or don't do, generally gives better results when advertising. And by "generally" I mean every time, ever. Ever.

You just want people to call you, period. You never want to give people a reason not to call you. You're not paying for each individual lead when advertising on Craigslist either, so what does it matter if you have to tell a few people NO here and there.

Say someone has a little bedside table and a pile of copper plumbing pipe and brass fixtures to get rid of and they see that your ad says absolutely no bedside tables, no exceptions, so they click out of your ad immediately. But if you had just shut up about the bedside table and waited until you're chatting with them on the phone or by text, you just might have convinced them to put the bedside table out for heavy trash day and send the pile of pipe and fixtures with you as well as the phone number of their elderly neighbor that has a shop full of old wire and tools from her late husband's electrician business. For example...

How about something like Mikes hand truck recycling service. State something about limited area pick up and large item issues as you are picking up things up on foot with a hand truck! Also do you know of someone with a truck just incase you get a bunch of items or something large? If so depending on what it is you could schedule a pick up that works for friend or family with the truck. Also if you are using friend or family to take you to the yard with all of your hand truck recovered items, if someone had something big you could just add it to the load on the way to the scrapyard.
    Better than the dump!

I was looking at your ad and found this guy... https://southbend.craigslist.org/wan...513575504.html you need to change your ad and state that you are in high school and just starting out in the metal recycling field. Then put in some of the other stuff about hand truck, and limited availability etc.
