    Recovery rates

I just did some 10 gauge thwn nylon stranded wire it was 2oz whole then 1.6oz bare wire. I did 1.6 divided by 2 and i got 0.8 so thats a recovery of 80% tight did i do it right? As the dize of the wire increases to lets say 4gauge will it still be 80%? I dont have anything else right now.

That wire is typically considered 82 percent recovery. Your numbers are very close for a small amount. Most likely your scale only goes to a tenth of an ounce. Recovery does go up a little as you get into the bigger wires. If I remember right, when you get into the mcm sizes, you may be approaching 90 percent.

What mthomasdev said. MCM can be at least 92% but expected recovery is at least 85% depending on your yard (we do MCM where I work starting at 90%). The only other wire with recovery that high is copper degaussing cable though that is frequently #2 cu.

If its mcm will it say so on the jacket? I dont think ill get that im not sure. The biggest wire that i should get is at least 19 strands of solid wires about 20 3 foot sections. Mostly from breaker boxes from mobile offices. And some smaller thhn and some romex but ill only b taking the orange and yellow cause 14 gauge sucks lol. Though 10 gauge romex is tougher than 10 gauge thwn not sure why any ideas?
