Help with ac questions

Ok so my grandma is getting a new central ac unit for her trailer. We live in a trailer park the guy said its illegal cause its a industrial ac or maybe it was because its got r 22 in it not sure.

The morgage company is going to pay for it and the ac guy is going to just leave the old one there but disconnect it from the trsiler and put a new one in. My questions are

1. What parts other than the fan motor and the wires and small transformer thing are not connected to the coils?
2. Should i just ask her to ask him if i can have the fan motor and wires since he isnt going to drain the coils so i cant touch that part. How much copper am i lookin at with the fan motor and wat little wires are on it there is also a big wire comming outta the ac looks like xhhn or something with a x has to be copper. i think there is 2oz in the transformer thing.
3. What are the odds of him letting me have this stuff? Should i just have him take the stuff i want off instead of me doing it? I know what a ac is i know what not to touch im not stupid well on somw things maybe but not this. The transformer should b inside a pannel where the big wire is going to. Thanks anyone who can help.

The ac guy is there to do a job. The mortgage company is the one paying him so they probably required a job quote. A job quote is a set price for doing the work. The bank will most likely require him to take the old ac unit away when he's finished because they don't want any junk left on the property.

Here's the thing:

This is a business deal between the bank and the ac guy. What's going on between them is none of your business. Be a good guy and stay out of other people's business.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I'm just trying to explain how these things usually work.

At the end of the day there wont be much metal in the unit because theres several different grades of metals.
So unless its being added to other scrapped metal it wouldn't kick thru to the 2Lb mark.
Or it weighs up, but it's Steel & not worth much.

Even with big heatpump units i would scrap it & add it to my other metals, having to do 4 or 5 before i had enough Ali/Copper rads to make it worth it.

Chances are is that the contractor will have to take it away. Ozone depleting rules & such.
I'm not sure if theres a transformer involved, but ours are 240 V AC & Invertor tech

Ive had a similar thing happen to me before....I tried to get an condenser unit, evaporator coil and furnace form a house down the street. I asked one of the guys and he said something similar, "Its illegal because you have to know how to remove the gas" ok ok yeah sure and i left. Wasnt the first time ive been shot down by hvac guys. A few hours later his buddy pulls up in a scrap truck and they loaded it all up. I knew he was on b.s. I talked to the home owner a few days later when i walked my dogs and asked who was that guy who took your stuff. He said someone they know, and he said if he knew they were ganna give it away he would have gave it to me. Oh well, Way she goes.

Anyways, if he does leave it, call your yards and see if they have a complete ac unit price. One yard here does. Atleast you can still get mabey $10 for it whole. And if you dont, some bad apple will come along and scoop it up and you know whats ganna happen to it.

If you do strip the fan motor, thats alot of work for under $1 of copper. Those winding are usually pretty shellaced like blower motors. You can find more in change in a old dryer lol. Ok im done rambling for the day

I was on the other side of it as a self employed tradesman for many years. It creates a lot of problems when neighbors and family try to insert themselves into the mix. I always tried to handle it diplomatically and politely send them on their way but i had to be pretty direct with a few. Usually, some bs about about building codes or the insurance liability of having visitors on the jobsite was all they needed to know.

I had one of my customers tell me straight up one day : Look .... you are working for me ... don't talk to the neighbors. I'm the one paying you. Now go do your job ! It was kinda hurtful when it was put that way but the customer was right. ~ Lesson learned.~

It would be the same expectation for an HVAC technician. They generally bill about 100.00 - 150.00 $/hr. for their labor. For that kind of money .... whoever is paying them has the right to expect that they will work efficiently and not allow themselves to get sidetracked with things that don't pertain to the task at hand.

I think that sometimes it's a case of different worlds and folks not understanding why things are done a certain way.

Well turns out they are just going to leave it there with the gas in the radiator the guy is gona give me the fan motor and the wires that got to the ac and a box on the house also a black wire going from that same box into the ground so ill get two big wires with who knows how many wires in each one my guess is its going to be something like romex maybe.
