One of the ways I've been able to grow my business in such a relatively short time is by offering a bin service tailored to customer needs. A key aspect is offering bins that don't look beat up to help fit in with clients who keep a clean shop. So if you're a machine shop doing precision CNC routing and producing borings and clips as scrap your workspace won't have beat up, rusty old bins to collect them like most scrapyards will provide. I keep mine clean as possible and looking good. When I show up to prospective customers - most of whom do not have a pick-up service already in play - with nice looking bins and offering good prices it's frankly a pretty easy sale.
It only takes a few pickups for the bin to pay for itself usually and you can offer bins that suit the shop needs. Some with locking lids that can be left outside, others are open top to be left inside. And all have
forklift access from any side and are stackable so as to take up less client shop space. In the photos you can see two different sizes, the smaller are 3'x3'x3' and the larger one with the open lid is 7'x4'x4'. One is full of brass shells at an ammo client and the others are on the my truck at a public collection event this past weekend at a shopping mall. The view is from back, the public saw them lined up along the other side and I got at least one new commercial client who stopped by with material to drop off.
