Hi was wanting to know the recovery rate or 6 awg xhhw ? I think that's the name of it? It's got a silver outside jacket then plastic then I think 7 strands of single wires wrapped around 2 6awg wires with 7 strands each in them I don't currently have any to strip but was curious to know.

6 gauge bare copper is 79.4 pounds per 1000 feet
thhn is 95 pounds per 1000 feet roughly 83.5 percent
xhhw is 97 pounds per 1000 feet roughly 81.8 percent.

those weights are all off various web sites, so your recovery may vary.

only difference is type of insulation

It's like that but the 6awg has 7 strands I think the grounds are 8awg I think the wire will fit in the big hole of the stripper but I'm not sure I'm getting 2 used spools of that and a used spool of 12/4 romex it's a pain cause you have to untwist it.

For the twisty stuff:

I tend to cut it into 10' lengths ... put one end in a vise ... and put the other end in a cordless drill. Put the drill in reverse and the wire untwists itself.

You have a good guess already if you think about other wire you know well that has:
2 layers of insulation
Thicker copper
That would be romex at 65% average. Except this one is like three strand romex with one of the strands not having insulation. So closer to 70%. Unless the insulation is much thinner or lighter than it appears in that picture you can always make a good recovery guess based upon wire you already know well.

Spool was 8lb 12oz the whole thing was 154lbs it weighs more than I do lol. So 145lbs of 6-6-8 not sure how many feet that is wire wise tho. 80% recovery I thought spool would weigh alot more shocked me. Type se cable style u type xhhw-2 600volts.
