Data cable blue cat 6

Hi I'm recently going to start saving data wire from work we snip it off and toss it didn't think about saving it until now was wanting to know what it usually runs for in prices ? Is it above num 2 or below num 2 but higher than num 3? Does it add up fast in weight ?. Or do I need lots of it to make 100lbs?.

Ummm ... i dunno. Why don't you try looking at rockaway recycling's website under insulated copper wire and match up the pictures with what you've got.

They list a cat 5/6 cross ( 40-45%) that they buy at .87 / lb. That might be what you've got.

Here we call it communication wire or com wire. Goes for $1.20/lb. The home / small office com wire usually dont weigh very much, but some of the heavy duty wire that falls in that category has some good weight to it. Use to get it all the time but everyone scraps now so its getting to be rare to find.

That's nuts here I thought it was crap wire lol cause it was so small and would just go into 3 lol. We had a big box full of the stuff in 2019 we put it in the metal dumpster for scrap. If I had known what I know now I would have kept it lol. I took all the big wire and just left that haha. I got the Romex a few spools and some 4/0 and lower of 5ft lengths a long time ago. They were attached to a breaker box from construction sites now mostly get aluminum wire coming back copper is rare sadly haha. I got a wire stripper so I strip the aluminum for ec wire. I been scrapping light balists from work to getting copper out of them. We are going to switch to LEDs.

The yard i used when i first started scrapping only paid .08/lb for "phone wire" as they called it. Another yard opened and had their prices posted on their web site around .75/lb for "cat 5/phone 50%" wire back then. Never went back to that other yard.
