Question About Keychain Magnets

I had a keychain magnet that I got years ago from someone who is no longer in business, so I’m unable to go back to my original source. The magnet is broken and not fixable.

I need to get another one, but it seems that the magnets I see for sale are all for brass. I need something that will also detect copper, aluminum, etc.



Will the brass magnet also detect copper and aluminum as well or do I need to buy something else? Thx in advance for any assistance you can provide.

It's pretty simple really. Take any old magnet.

If the magnet sticks ... it's a ferrous metal like steel or cast iron.

If the magnet doesn't stick then it's a non ferrous metal like brass, copper, or aluminum.

I’m just a very analytical person who doesn’t live real close to a scrap yard and figures there are lots of types of magnets. I don’t want to use the wrong kind, but it sounds like you are saying any old magnet should work.
