I have been scrapping for about 6 months now. After making a few mistakes, I have narrowed down some things that have been very profitable to me. First off, I have my routes by new shopping centers, or existing shopping centers that are remodeling or a new store coming into the existing shopping center. I have found that the construction dumpsters have been very good for me. I calculate my gas and time and see how much I get from the scrap yard. For example, I have a shopping center not far from me, I spent an hour actually in the dumpster and a hour driving there and to the scrap yard and made $150.00. Plus I have about 2000lbs left to get. Craigslist works great for me, I cant say that for everyone. Also, I have my business cards and give them to my customers as well. I love what I do and I keep track of my hotspots. Its very important to get permission from the people who have the dumpsters. I can average anywhere from $70.00 to $300 a day for less than 4 hours work and $40.00 gas.Meet everyone you can, stop by metal shops, auto shops and just get out and meet people.
