I used to do the ebay thing, but no more. It's a freakin' pain in the arse. I don't have time to mess with the stupid questions, the jackasses that buy stuff without so much as reading the description, etc. Not to mention PayPal. At one time when I was running my pool table business I thought PayPal was the best thing since sliced bread. Then I had a service customer that called me to his house 5 weeks after I recovered his table. He showed me a crack in his rail that you literally had to get your face within 6 inches to see. He said I did it and wanted me to replace the rail....But you can't replace ONE rail, you have to buy the set....$600 bucks. I of course pointed out that his table was 10 years old, he bought it second hand, and had used the table for over a month before he spotted this crack. He threatened to sue me in small claims and I told him bring it on.... Well he didn't sue me, he filed a complaint w/ PayPal (I used to use their invoice tool so customers could pay w/ credit cards). Before I knew it my PayPal account was frozen.... PayPal and ebay are heavily balanced in favor of the buyers, not the sellers. Screw ebay. I only use it as a reference tool now.
I just recently had them rule in my favour. i sold a mobile phone i didnt need through a new contract renewal (i'm not big on owning things that lose 50% of their value in a few months) He said the item didnt arrive then it turns out he has a different address for ebay and paypal, -i sent it to the paypal one which i havent always in the past. He says he no longer lived at that address and that it was my fault he didnt get his item because the people at the old address admitted no knowledge of the item. He says i should have sent it to his ebay address as thats where he did the purchase from. Because he kept cutting and pasting his message about where he did and didnt live i was able to point this out to paypal and also pointed towards their seller protection which stated i must send it to their paypal address. I was still relieved however as i really needed the money when they ruled in my favour. I wonder, would he have filed the same complaint had i sent it to his ebay address w/o thinking? I'd have been screwed then.
