Real Estate Investors, RE Agents, Foreclosure's etc

For those of you who have NOT traveled this method yet, let me enlighten you.

In addition to my scrap metal and junk recycling business that I own, I also own a investment company that deals primarily in real estate. I deal a lot with realtors occassionally, investors, rehab buyers, foreclosure agents, etc.

Basically when they buy a property or are managing a property that is in need of scrap metal or junk removal, they will call me, or go on my website, and fill out a form.

One thing that I have realized, is that there is not just money to be made in scrap metal recycling, but in removing junk as well. Only difference is, is that you ALWAYS charge for junk removal, other wise, not profitable.

Not to bash anyone, but I only recommend junk removal for people with trailers, as when you are contracted to do it, there is ALWAYS a lot!

But getting back to what I was saying, any small mom and pop, or even large real estate practice, will have property from time to time. Also, mainly foreclosures, ALWAYS have junk that has to be removed. Find the ones that deal with foreclosures, and make them your best friend!

is there money to be made in small dump runs with a ford ranger? i do a delivery service but sometimes people call me to haul out some old furniture or something, and i usually say no...

If you can load it into your truck or trailer and secure it so it don't go flying off then sure. Just have an idea for what the landfill will charge you, then charge that amount, plus more for your gas and time.

and you may be able to resell some of it or give it to a thrift shop.

Some people don't have extra help in order for them to load the furniture, and almost all furniture requires 2 or more people. That and the fact that most people do not want to pay what those kinds of jobs are really worth...even when people try and give them a discount. They always want the job done for like $5 or $15 bucks.

sometimes i run into people that want things removed that are still able to be used but not good for scrap, i charge them a small fee and donate them to local good will save the reciept for a tax write off... so come tax time i get paid for the job again probobly will have a lot of those this year

That is good, but since tax time is only once per year, I would still charge a reasonable fee for removal.
