I like them, clean, proffesional & allways the top $.
$235 a tonne from the Sims in the UK -we have 35 of them here too. They seem to offer decent prices for most stuff, heavy steel and cast seem lower but rest are decent. Not used them before but am going to take them a load this week. Thanks for the info.

Holding everything is about as effective as those "dont buy gas on tuesday" type of squeezes. Usually uneffective

    ^ exactly.

I read somewhere that scrap metal is a 200 billion dollar industry. I am not sure this entire forum as a whole would even show up as a dent on that kind of money.

I have not stopped buying. I have just stopped actively going after the general public business. I have built my business without ever having to speak to a contractor or scrapper. It was only recently that I made the decision to try and tap the market. What I have found is that they are not willing to sell unless I am willing to pay something outrageous like $4 a pound for mixed wire. I will just sit back and enjoy my corporate clients and if someone from the general public comes a calling I will be happy to listen to them and perhaps buy from them.

Himmmmmm...... Typically I am very protective of showing my operation however, perhaps I could make a small video for the people here. I wish I could say I am 60,000 square feet but I am able to do everything I need to with about 4,000 square feet.

Just the thought of not having to deal with the general public would make me happy. I always get some jackass who's trying to beat me up on price when they bring in 150lb of tin, blocking the entrace of a 50yard truck loaded. The public scares me sometimes

Sims is an Australian company, Was Sims metal, then Sims group, then the bought / merged we a US mob called Metal Management a few years back. They are the worlds biggest i think?

I remember reading somewhere they run over 200 yards around the world..

In NZ the bought out Pacific Metals who had like 6 yards or so?

Company still based here (head office is here)
