So many TV's...so many TV's....need a bit of inspiration i reckon?

I literally am sitting on about 800 tvs/monitors right now, and i dont know.

I know a while back, i was stoked about it. But fact is, im burnt.

I guess i just need some inspiration from yall. Have had a lot of family health issues going on lately, and i've just lost my drive.

I know how hard i need to work this next week, but i just cant seem to get up the motivation. I guess a little scrap family pep talk is what i'm askin' for tonight.

Reckon it's time for some copenhagen and a glass of jack.

TVs are really fun to hit with a bowling ball rolled down a hill. Just sayin.

Are you breaking down each one completely as you work? *I would break them down into components then process each component separately. *Make a pile of yokes and a pile of cables etc. *Get rid of the bulk (tubes/plastic). *Then set up to process the yokes in a batch and the same with the wire. *Assembly line style will keep you from switching between tools so frequently.

I agree with scrap master J , that's the way I do it and I never have more than 3 at a time, I just have no choice though due to space limitations... But 800 yeah that's a lot to even think about!

I do it assembly line style. I do 2 at a time. Have a pile for degaussing cables, cones, miscellaneous wires, etc.

I knocked out 67 today. Didn't even make a dent LOL.

Tomorrow i'm goin to Boise to pick up around 100-300 more, + 2-4 gaylords of electronics.

Should be a good week, but darnit the breakdown is just killing me. I can't seem to work fast enough to knock em out before i got 3 times as much as i broke down.

It's a good problem too have, and i'm thankful, VERY thankful for it. But it sure is a PITA.

Hoss am I remember past posts right. You break down the glass with some heat device as well? I wouldnt mind getting some setup to do 100 tv's a week.

No i don't mess with the glass. Once i get it all down to the tube, i take them to a company that takes as many as i can bring in, for free. They ship them out to URT, which recycles the tubes properly.

I thought about doing that, but my fathers health is too fragile to be messing around with lead, and phospherous (or whatever it is) that flys around in the air off the front of the screen.

Thanks for the info, Hoss. This is great information. URT is Universal Recyclers and does glass-to-glass recycling. They have a facility about 2 hours from me. If the company you take them to takes them for free, that means that URT is paying them for the tubes. All other places I've found charge for it and are half way across the country. Honestly, I'd be satisfied just finding a place that would take the tubes off my hands and cover shipping...

That gives me a idea. Thanks for the heads up on urt. Im gonna have to contact them and see about the glass. Be nice if they take them or even buy them...hmmm. I found a location only 50 miles away.

I have a plastic buyer that is currently paying me 4 cents a pound. Once my guy gets some contacts straight, ill seperate my plastics and get paid around 10-14 cents a pound. That's ONLY because of my volume. An average joe wont get that price.

Honestly, proprietary secret thing. Contacts that i've worked HARD for literally a few years to get. Wouldnt be fair to myself to just blabber about it. Hope i don't offend you PTS. Not meaning any disrespect.

None taken just curious was all. I would love to ramp up my tv scrapping here in denver is all. But would like a buyer for my stuff not just a donation center.
