Thanks for all this great info guys I am producing a flier to put up in stores. But I need a list of good items to pick up. So if you guys can give me a list of appliances or just scraps you guys go after and make a good net of money on please post them. Thank you

Ive sold some scrap washers and dryers ive picked up from CL. I also like to use the drums for containers in my shed. They hold the low grade circuit boards I pull from TV's real well.

Hey man, welcome to the forum! When you scrap washers and dryers out, remove the motor(take these in when you have a decent amount), remove all the wiring and don't bother stripping it(again, take in when you have a decent amount), and if you want to get into e-waste then there are usually only a couple of screws holding on the control panel, set these aside and learn how to separate what's inside(there is also usually a strip of aluminum on the face of the panel). I think it's worth it as well, but I also have the space to keep all my crap and take in large loads.Originally Posted by Ohscrapper

Not really sure how the pay rate breaks down on them yet. I'm pretty new to the game too. I'm just trying to start a nice collection of motors for a "rainy day" as others have said. The ones that are easy to break down will get broken down and the ones that look like a PITA I'll take the .25/lb for. I work out of a storage unit so I have a little room to horde.
If I had the time and more room I would have tried to sell them whole. I sold a working treadmill I found at the curb for $100, but it took close to a month to get it gone. If I had a warehouse that would be fine but right now room to work is more important.

US$5 of Copper in each, normally, theres always exceptions though, search around here.

ive greatly lowered my profit/time spent breaking things down, but it was definatly worth it as ive learned a whole lot in the process
as for what I take: anything worth anything.

My friend told me this line before when talking about sex lol but I think it applies in this case too. "Why would I pay for something, when if I apply myself I can probably get it for free?"
With that being said I'd have no problem paying for scrap if what I was paying gave me ample room to make a tidy profit.

All right I will give up a "secret" spot...nursing homes and retirement homes, they often assist in breaking down estates and wheel chairs/escrap/walkers galore, sometimes cars. Dress nice and be polite w/a business card. Also any College dumpster...
