Most of your prices seem pretty fair. I pay more for a/c's but that's because I really need the refrigerants to fill contracts.

yeah i dont have a scale and all and i think even if i did i wouldnt be able to match up with the big scrap businesses out here like 2 brothers who have a load of trucks with a scale in every one of them so instead of competing with thier prices i did something a little different

Sometimes when dealing with the public, giving them a fixed price per item makes it easier for them to understand. When I quote price per pound they get a glazed look in their eyes.

Just a suggestion - Never pay for anything with freon. You're saving them the disposal fee. If you can get batteries for $2, that's great. I pay $4 which seems the norm around here. Also just a suggestion - I pay .25 per brake rotor. They're all different weights, but like freonjoe said, people prefer fixed rate per item. Mostly, I don't pay for stuff considered Light Iron or Tin no matter how much there is. Just too much hassle by the time I get through all the labor involved and people are mostly just wanting to get rid of the stuff. I will pay for copper and brass by the pound (varies).
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Question- are you scrapping the bikes? Do you make money on them after paying $3? I've never scrapped one. Do you pay the same for children's bikes? Looks like a good idea. I was thinking of the same thing. Thanks for posting this.

Seems like a great way to break the ice and get your foot in the door and then you can close bigger deals with the Bulk Bid. Or land "The Whale" (as olddude would say).
