100 lb propane bottles weigh about 70 lbs give or take 2 lbs they are stamped near the top of the tank.

Toyota Camry 1994 = 3128 lb

Craftsman grills (all steel) approx 134 lbs.

I just turned in 3 this week and thats what they averaged out to be

Kohler double basin kitchen porcelain over cast iron sink 87 Lbs.

i think the best way to weight the scrap is first we need to fill it in the truck then we can weight the whole truck

You might be able to put a 3-5 gallon bucket(depending on the scale size) on the scale as a stand and then sit the water heater or other object on top of the bucket. it should be somewhat accurate.

If you want to load 100+ lbs on a scale, go right ahead. :-P

10' aluminum mesh satellite dish- 120 steel, 54 aluminum.

Wife thinks I weigh a 1/4 of a ton. Fooled her, I only weigh 499 lbs. In all serious, a square foot of 1/4 in. steel weighs 10 lbs.

There was no motor on it, unfortunately.

I still have the arm because I need to crack open the box. That's going to be maybe 3 more pounds of aluminum. I also just tossed the cord in with my other cables, so that is not included in the total.

People try to sneak telephone poles into loads?!?! How in the?! WHAAAAAT? I bet you have some great stories haha

You have no idea, I've had guys come in with safes, that they *rolleyes* didn't know the combo, graciously slide it off the trailer, door side up. So, I tipped it to just watch water start pouring out.
Also, dealt with the guys that have sat there and attempted to argue that the concrete filled 4 drawer filing cabinets where solid metal, hence the weight. *facethud*

For the most part, most of the peddlers are nice, talk to them with respect, give them the option of take it with them or deduction and everythings cool. But its the douche canoes that really test ones patients. Trying to take items out of the pile that a previous person dropped off, while stating the multimillion dollar mega shredder / pickers won't reclaim items.

But I basically deal with the big boys now. It's nothing to see 800-10,000 lb deductions on fubar loads.
