I actually bought a box of brass water meters about the size of the one on the right and your probably looking at around 1200 lbs. and water meters bring some good money if you clean them. But in our state you have to have a dealers license or be the county to sell the water meters.
On another note, I think that the best thing to do for this thread is to take a picture of something along with the weight and dimensions. other wise there is too many variables.

I've found that a standard refrigerator carcass (lining removed) will hold 1100-1200#s of "prepared steel" or #2 HMS .

100 lb propane bottles weigh about 70 lbs give or take 2 lbs they are stamped near the top of the tank.

There was no motor on it, unfortunately.
I still have the arm because I need to crack open the box. That's going to be maybe 3 more pounds of aluminum. I also just tossed the cord in with my other cables, so that is not included in the total.

Wife thinks I weigh a 1/4 of a ton. Fooled her, I only weigh 499 lbs. In all serious, a square foot of 1/4 in. steel weighs 10 lbs.
