    As an inspector, here's a ruff guide to what things weigh that shouldn't be in loads, Yet some peddlers and vendors alike try to slip things buy all the freegan time. Then often enough of times get pissy when they're asked to put the following back on the truck or take the deduction.

    Deductions guild



    Plywood “1/4 thick 4x8” 15 lbs.
    Plywood “1/2 thick 4x8” 25 lbs.
    Plywood “3/4 thick 4x8” 45 lbs.
    Plywood “1 thick 4x8” 75 lbs.
    Cement 94 lbs per cubic ft.
    Concrete 150 lbs per cubic ft.
    Insulation “fiberglass” 2 lbs per cubic ft
    2x4's 1.28 lbs per ft.
    2x6's 2 lbs per ft.
    2x8's 2.64 lbs per ft.
    2x10's 3.37 lbs per ft.
    2x12's 4.10 lbs per ft.
    4x4's 2.98 lbs per ft.
    6x6's 7.35 lbs per ft.
    6x8's 10.03 lbs per ft.
    Telephone poles 26.67 lbs per ft.
    Hay Bale “dry” 45 lbs
    Hay Bale “wet” 50-100 lbs
    Hay Bale “muddy” 100-150lbs

    Water 8.33 lbs per gl.

    Dirt “Loose dry” 76 lbs per cubic ft.
    Dirt “loose moist” 78 lbs per cubic ft.
    Clay “dry” 100 lbs per cubic ft.
    Clay “wet” 110 lbs per cubic ft.
    Gravel “dry” 105 lbs per cubic ft.
    Gravel “wet” 125 lbs per cubic ft.
    Mud “flowing” 108 lbs per cubic ft.

    You have no idea, I've had guys come in with safes, that they *rolleyes* didn't know the combo, graciously slide it off the trailer, door side up. So, I tipped it to just watch water start pouring out.
    Also, dealt with the guys that have sat there and attempted to argue that the concrete filled 4 drawer filing cabinets where solid metal, hence the weight. *facethud*

    For the most part, most of the peddlers are nice, talk to them with respect, give them the option of take it with them or deduction and everythings cool. But its the douche canoes that really test ones patients. Trying to take items out of the pile that a previous person dropped off, while stating the multimillion dollar mega shredder / pickers won't reclaim items.

    But I basically deal with the big boys now. It's nothing to see 800-10,000 lb deductions on fubar loads.
