    Need a quick answer

Picking up a 455ci olds engine tomorrow a.m. Researched it, it's not the "rocket class" engine. I am short on time and space so I am prob bringing right to scrap yard. I have time to remove valve covers, carb, manifold. No time to pull valve springs and pistons. Am I missing anything else? Taking off parts listed assuming they are aluminum and/or worth reselling. Lady who called me said the motor is in garage and only part missing is the oil pan. Sorry if this has been covered but I am really short on time today and tomorrow. Any input would be appreciated. I will been on later to read replies. Thanks again guys and gals.

Thanks mdg can't believe I forgot the alt and starter.....You are correct sir it's a rocket motor. From what I read they were produced thru 76 or 77 but removed the cool looking rocket decal from air cleaner in 74. This one came out of a 79 according to owner. Haven't seen it yet but sounds like hubby was doing a rebuild. I am hoping its clean I may have a buyer for it. Guy I know wants to drop it into a mustang that he wants to drag race with.

If I'm thinking correct the valve covers will be stamped steel, nothing special.

gameday-not same guy, the one I know is an old buddy from queens.
mech-thanks you are prob right unless it was a rebuild project for someone who lost interest, hoping thats the case and maybe find some aluminum covers and other goodies...keeping fingures crossed.
brandon- i hear you but like i said up top, short on time and space at this point to hold it, plus the misses already laid down the law and I quote " if you bring it home you sleep with it "...lol. Unless you are seriously interested I can spend a night or two in the garage...but that just makes the price go up...jk. either way i will post a picture of it tomorrow. thanks to all .

Hmmm......."If you bring it home you sleep with it"

Was that for anything or just the engine?

Well got hopes up and smashed when we pulled up and found a rusty hunk of metal. No manifold, starter, alternator, no valve covers...nothing but the block. Lady also left us an electric oven, sump pump and a few other pieces. Not the payday I hoped for but got 360# worth of #1 iron for the motor...thanks to everyone for their help....at least I get to sleep in my bed tonight...lol
