I need some knowledge, please help.

I see televisions that get smashed or they are untouched. I only know about the electric cords value. What is inside that is worth smashing it to get?

Also, when it comes to computers and circuit boards. What am I looking for? What should I strip out? After I strip out escrap then where do I sell it. My scrap yard doesn't buy it.

Thanks for any input. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the computer stuff so ANY info will increase my knowledge.

My best advice is to search on the forum, and pick a tv/crt monitor and break it apart. You will see whats in it.

Lots of threads on tv and crt monitors. There is copper windings inside the tv and crt's. Also some Al. There is a dangerous electrical charge that can be held for a long time in side tvs and crt's.

One of our members Hoss does a lot tv and I mean a lot. Find Hoss and read all his threads from the beginning and you will have learned much of what you need to know. I recommend doing a lot of reading before you start tearing them apart.

The search function on this forum does not respond well to 1,2,3 letter searches and in "tv" or "crt". So if you have tried but failed to do a search on tv's don't feel bad.

Lastly there is no good reason to smash/break the tube in a tv or crt. Mike.

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked

Thanks for the advice. Been really busy. Sorry that I didn't realize there was so much info right under my nose. I will figure out how to search more efficiently. I was just looking by scrolling. Sorry if I seem dumb. I'm working on that though (hopefully)

Dumb and ignorant are not the same. Ignorance can be remedied by taking the time to study, and in this day and age, information is more abundant than clean water. But you just have to put the time(by reading and reading info on what you wanna learn) or the money(go to college), either way it is 99% what you put into it. You'll do fine in the long run. Every single one of us on here are still learning, but we started somewhere. Good luck to ya.
