I also try to get as much as I can for free. I don't want the whole
scrap metal pie, but just a piece of it. I know there is a niche out there somewhere, I just have to find it. I looked on
ebay for those old sears saws thinking I might be able to sell it for parts, but not many of them had actually sold. I didn't want to take the time for Craigslist. Craigslist is hard sometimes, it all depends on what it is. I guess knowing what something weighs and what it is worth would be key, and then scan Craigslist possibly? Goodwill has all sorts of old stereo equipment that would produce some nice profits possibly if they would sell it cheap enough. I paid $5 bucks for an old unit just to rip it apart to see what was inside. Got most of the money back, but still came up about a buck fifty short. I won't do that again.
