removing copper from low grade boards

Lately I have been finding lot of TVs and have been accumulated a few low grade boards. So when I don't have anything to do and want to kill time I just remove the copper and aluminum from the boards. Is fun and I have been putting lots of copper in this bucket that weighs a lot by now.

I enjoy ur vids...but dude go play w ur son..priceless...sell those little guys as transformers...the lil ones w a tad bit of ferrite, just smash n grab..then move onto something worthwhile

scrappy you are right. I should concentrate on bigger things. By the way scrappers what do you remove from the low grade boards? I remove the transformers and aluminum?

I do the same as Mechanic, plus the big transformer, I think it's called a flashback transformer, it's the big black one.

I know theirs tons of threads about removing items from low grade boards, and I've seen tons of the "coils" (usually in disk drives), and throw them in a separate bucket...does anyone cut the copper off these or just say whatever and turn them in as motors?

crap ive been throwing away those flybacks for a long time, ill be saving those now

Yes some core buyers buy them, not all scrap yards will buy them as electric motors or as copper bearing matariel. If you have a buyer for your low grade boards I think your better off leaving them on the board, it's most of the wieght of the board. I used to unwind the coils but now just put then with the electric motors. Thanks Mech the correction on the flyback transformers, just couldn't remeber the right name.

i used a chopsaw on a flyback once, posted pics on here somewhere, it's kind of like any other transformer, but with a lot of insulation around it

They're not fun to cut, the insulating material turns to a fine dust, probably equal to breathing fiberglass
