What you are referring to as 'copper motors' are transformers. Rather than trying to just rip them out, which resulted in breaking the board and cutting yourself, try heating up the solder connections on the back side with a small butane torch or a soldering iron. I've also used my heat gun to loosen components without any resulting damage. There won't be much value to the card slot assembly as they are so common, but you should be able to sell the DTV card (aka CAM) on eBay, if they don't cancel your auction first.
Good Luck...
thanks
Those are not high grade boards. In my book they are low grade, braking a board dose not down grade the board, taking things off a high grade board will down grade the board. If your getting high grade price for those boards I would like the name and address of your buyer.
Wasnt there a post that these were able to be sold for more than scrap value?

It depends on the model of receiver box. I'm more familiar with DN receivers, but as with most items, I always run the model numbers thru eBay and then make the decision.
I just starred scrapping a month ago and so far i have never went to the scrap yard and im hoarding up for the scrap yard next month and dont high grade boards have gold on thme
The access cards go for $2 each on ebay. The smart card slot is worth taking apart for gold plated metal recovery. The board itself is midgrade once all of the excess transformers and shred has been removed, also all the capcitors. Once the board is clean it can be sold as midgrade. AS-IS the main board is low grade. If you see any gold plated metal on the main board go ahead and remove it and sell it separately. Just be aware that brass looks the same a gold plated to an untrained eye.
well im going to sell the card on ebay mines is old so it might go for less
Yes, but I toss the DirectTV ones in my mid grade box. There are so many different grades of "Higher Grade Boards." Telecom, Motherboard, Ram, Hard Drives, etc just to name a few. I leave the transformers, aluminum, etc on. I don't want to degrade the board. Knock off the aluminum and transformers with a carpenters hammer. Quicker than channel locks, and cleaner.

Low grade boards can have gold on them a great example is hot swap power supply board where the only gold is a gold finger. No buyer is going to call it high grade. I have some videogame console boards that are motherboard/high grade boards. But the satellite receiver and cable box boards are mid grade at best from my experience.
I'm not saying that you can't get mid grade for those boards but I have never gotten mid grade for them.
