    I am no automobile repair expert, but I did spend the evening in an unbelievably drunken stupor last night....

    My guess would be the belt snapped and broke the pulley or something popped up, got caught and snapped the belt and chipped the pully. I would replace the belt and see how it goes before I went through the trouble of replacing a bunch of stuff that was not needing to replaced.
