Red face pipe wrench for water heaters

As a scrapper, you have to have a pipe wrench for water heaters or for other items that require a pipe wrench.
At the begging, I was using a regular wrench but that didn't work so I was hitting it with a hammer and the pipes will break. So I decided not to be lazy and went to walmart and bought a pipe wrench. What ideas do you have if you don't have a pipe wrench to remove the brass?

Give those brass valves a good smack with a claw hammer and the thread breaks off, the amount of brass you loose any worth a hill of beans.

    I love my framing hammer.

You didn't find that hammer scrappin' alloy... Looks like you might have broken loose with a little scrapping cash.

A hammer and a prybar with a stiker head in the end are absolutely the two best tools i have when it comes to scapping

I usually just stick a pipe or long extension in the open end of the valve and turn it out.

I like to use an 18" Craftsman adjustable with the T&P relief valves. ( less effort with a longer handle tool ) It fits right on the flat where the little arrow is.
