I was talking to a guy a few days ago & he mentioned using the cutting disc out of a tubing cutter, to strip the plastic off plastic coated copper wire.
At home I noticed my copper tubing cutter, its the same as this one.>

I'm thinking I could take out the bottom roller (its held in by a steel pin thats knurled at one end, just push it from each end untill it moves & then push it out)
Drill a small hole where the roller was, so that the wire can go thru the hole (missing the knurled knob) down inside the cutter & out under the cutting roller.
With any luck the cutting roller will slice thru the outer plastic insulation, cutting it apart, & the copper wire will be able to be pulled out of the plastic insulation.
I don't think it'd be that easy.
I think it will need a nylon or Teflon block, it can be held in by the adjusting bolt, with a 'Vee' in the bit that would sit under the cutting roller, so the wire sits in the 'Vee' as its pulled thru.
The present gap between the roller & metal, frame is about 2mm, too big I guess.
Some microwaves have a round block of Teflon that is used to drive the glass platter around, possible source of Teflon..
