a necessary investment if you ask me

what do you guys wear on your feet when scrapping? any one wear safety sandals?

If I am not wearing my vans, I got a pair of steel toe Wrangler boots. Or a pair of hunting boots witch arnt steel toe. I worked with a guy who had boots like that. He use to work for the railroad.

I believe Dakota is Mark's Work Warehouse "house" brand. Don't know who actually makes them though - could be a number of companies producing to spec.

Red wings. The pecos pull on style, with steel toe and metgaurd. I've had them for three weeks so I can't say long term, but so far they've been my favorites. They set me up on the foot scanner machine and matched insoles to my feet and they are pretty comfortable.

I tried those on but they dug in when crouching. I like the idea of the metgaurd on those to save laces, but I went with lace less style, so no worries on my end.

Rocky Wellington style steel toe. Had them for over a year when my wolverines wore out. Have to say they are the most comfortable and durable work boot I have owned. Most expensive Ive ever owned also. I payed around 160 but it is well worth it because I wear them every day to work.

Redwings, water proof steel toe. I just bought a new pair this week, the last pair lasted me 3 years and I went through 7 pairs of laces. Redwings are a little pricey, but I bet it would be difficult to find another boot that would last 3 years of nearly everyday wear. And the old ones could still be worn, but I just broke my 7th pair of laces, the insole needed replaced, and they look pretty rough so I decided on a new pair.

I wear sandals. I can't lift much, so heavy stuff is fine where it sits, but recently I had a nail go through the sole at home. A kevlar or dragonskin layer would be useful there.

i wear my combats from my days in the service. when they wear out to much i order another pair online. $300 each but theyre the most comfortable strongest boots ive ever put on my feet. ive dropped boilers on my toes and didnt feel a thing and have also played basketball in the boots without a problem.

I also wear Redwing boots, however what really troubles me about the brand is that when I first started buying them years ago I was offered either the Redwing brand, made by union workers in Ohio, or the Worx brand, a company owned by Redwing with workers in China. Back then I couldn't afford the Redwing brand and now that I can even the Redwing brand boots carry the "made in China" label. There are few things that pi$$ me off more than those 3 words

Hytest steel toe work boots. wear them when I go to the scrap yard as well. Too many hazards at yard not to wear them.

Have owned the same pair for the last 3 years. Work construction and are very comfy and last forever. Other boots lasted 6-8 months.
