FedEx is always more expensive than the Post Office unless the dimensions are just right (and even then, Parcel Select is still cheaper than both FedEx and UPS Ground). LTL is not really an option because we do not have quite enough space to stockpile that much.
Over all my experience shipping item I sell on
eBay is that USPS is best overall. USPS 13 oz and less can go First Class and its the least expense. Over 13 oz I find it worth it to check out all the possibilities, USPS-Priority and Parcel Select and Fedex.
For me the best deal is most often USPS Priority but sometimes its one of the other options. I like using the Flat Rate boxes and envelopes because I don't have hold a large inventory of boxes.
In Priority Mail along with the flat rate boxes they have Region A, B, C, boxes that are different size and shapes, A box being the smallest. The rate changes depending on where they are shipped but for me a good deal up and down the east coast and out to TN. I live in coastal NC.
I find it pays to check all the rates. Mike
