Full-Time Scrappers?

I'm curious, how many full-time scrappers are there on this forum?



Also are there any scrappers that go out using a shopping cart, bike, moped, etc. NO TRUCK OR VEHICLES?

After retiring from another profession I became a full time scrapper. I use trucks and trailers.

These answers are exactly what I figured. But I'm going to focus on those who don't have a vehicle and have never scrapped before.

I make a living from home and mostly with my computer and online. I'm an independent security research, specializing in malware and finding vulnerabilities. But I also do freelancing: web design/development, wordpress themes, mobile apps, graphic design, etc. Plus have a number of affiliate websites in about 10 different niches. The biggest question I have gotten over the years is how do you make money online?

And the biggest issue holding people back getting started is finding the extra money needed for hosting, domain names, professional wordpress theme, etc. So my advice to them is scrapping which you could make the extra money you need in one day "if you have a vehicle". If you don't have one then it's a little bit different.

And that's what I intended to help out in covering is scrapping with my bike and trailer only. How much can be made each day. If you can make a living doing it without a vehicle. etc.

Now I understand my rig is pretty fancy. With the bike and trailer together it's about a $300+ rig. The trailer alone was $200. So even that would be hard for some to get. But that's as far as I'm going to go.

I AM NOT walking all over town pushing a shopping cart scrapping. Sorry... LMAO

This would be where I'd recommend a forum search ,as we've had quite a few folks come through that scrap without a vehicle.

This is true but having some features on the search would help narrow down the search time when looking for something specific such as that. Like wildcards, exact phrase match, or at least booleans such as AND, NOT, etc.

I have tried these on the search and doesn't work too well. So have to do a regular search which returns a lot of unrelated post to sift through.

im full time but here in SA, theres so much unemployment, its not easy to get scrap daily - so many days i just do nothing- go to the gym , go to the mosque, ...relax...living the dream.

Sort of full time... Because my 'real job' involves driving around in a company truck all day in neighborhoods where people have more $$$ than ¢¢¢.

Plus I buy stuff at auction, and sell what I can on ebay.

Full Time here from North West Ohio. Truck and 2 trailers. I pick up all scrap metal, plus buy junk vehicles and part them out then scrap whats left.

I appreciate all the responses and tomorrow I'll be starting my full-time scrapping endeavour with a bike and a trailer. I do have saddlebags that I can put on the bike also if need be. But I'm going to just go with the trailer.

The point of it all is to get the most out of scrapping with a bike and trailer. Everyone knows you can much more money with a pickup or vehicle, even most all the YouTube scrappers are using trucks. I only found one guy that uses just a bike and a big tote strapped to the back of it. But even he has graduated up to a moped now.

Part timer here, mostly cuz I've been slacking and I'm backlogged with material to tear down. I do the bike and trailer too. Haven't renewed my drivers license and tabs, registration, insurance is expensive all of a sudden here in my neck of the woods. My trailer's homemade with materials harvested from scrapping, basically a pressure washer cart with either a 18 gallon Rubbermade tote or a wood flatbed deck I built out of an old oak pallet. Homemade trailer hitch consisting of a lower control arm for the tongue and ball joint for the hitch out of my old Subaru Brat and angle iron from a bed frame with some angle brackets and band steel. It's pretty small and the tiny 10 inch tires can be a drag but I've hauled firewood and microwaves on it. Planning to build a larger trailer with wheelchair wheels. Would love to get a Worksman industrial trike. I got alot of bicycles, two motorized, one gas I built up and one electric I picked up at CurbCo but my main rig is the only one with the hitch, a $120 bike from Target, almost 18 years old now, weighs a good 50 lbs as it sits. Rebuilt her with better components but alot of mismatched parts so I call her FORB. Came up with that from a reference from an old Dodge truck with FORD spray painted on the tailgate.
