Copper Wire: Sell, Strip or Hold.

Lets assume that you are looking at the current copper market,

You have 2 Tons of "Mixed Wire" The mix has lots of good thick wire and small wire. Plugs ends still attached.



Would you sell the whole lot for lets say $1.00/lb = $4000

Not much work is involved in selling as is, so lets say -$ 200 in transport expenses

Should be a gain of $3800



Obviously we could assume that if it were stripped, how much would it be worth?

This question has been asked and answered many times on the forum. Short short answer is its up to you. Short answer is can you spend the time more productively doing something else, if so do something else and sell as is. Mike.

No crystal ball at my house. The history of Cu tells me sell and put my money into the next thing that will make me money. This is my situation and you must make these moves based on your needs and comfort level.

If you want to play the market I'd recommend buying copper futures
If you have a mix load of wire I'd guess you have 60-70% copper
4000x.60=2400lbs copper
4000x.70=2800lbs copper
And a lot of labor cost

Although gold and silver are getting monkey hammered, copper price seems pretty resilient right now and looks to be in a long-term consolidation. Inflation from the stock market will leach out into the general economy eventually and commodities will benefit from it. To me it just looks like cash in the bank if price holds. If it breaks, look for CU to hit about $2.60

china is done buying copper for now, sell it and move on to the next deal before copper drops, there is no recovery on the near horizon, you would have to hold it atleast for the next 4 years waiting for recovery plus how much is the dollar gonna go down over that time. I see alot more downside risk on holding copper right now than upside. 16000 dow on 50% unemployment / underemployment makes me sick. More government shutdowns looming, take the money and run for the hills.
